I ve been buying Ballater Roast coffee beans from Roaring Stag for several years now. It s by far the best quality and nicest tasting coffee I have managed to find for my beloved bean to cup machine. Makes a beautifully smooth latte with a delicious taste- slight hints of dark chocolate. I always purchase it when on holiday on Ballater and get it by mail order at other times throughout the year. Delivery is efficient and the beans always arrive in perfect condition 300 miles south. Opening the bags and inhaling the aroma from the beans is one of life s little joys to me! :)

I received my Ballater and Lochnagar roasts following a very speedy despatch. The anticipation was almost too much as I opened the bag and smelt the wonderful aroma of the beans. I have only recently gone back to bean to cup and placed a quantity of beans in to my aged coffee grinder, but alas, it failed. My despair at this juncture was difficult to quantify, it was literally off the scale. Anyhow, I ordered and received a new Melitta grinder and as this review is about the coffee I will only say that the grinder has been a game changer. And now the coffee. I use a French-press or cafetière, if you prefer. The beans arrived in perfect condition and looked exactly as described in that they were a medium roast. I normally drink strong espresso coffee but decided to try something somewhat lighter. I have not been disappointed, the balance and smoothness of the Ballater roast is quite exceptional and I can describe it as being a Smokey, chocolate flavour characteristic that is velvet smooth. I have already recommended to all other coffee aficionado s with whom I am in contact with. A classic, stunningly good. Thank-you to Roaring Stag 10/10
